McIlroy Relishes 'Incredible' Masters Victory

Rory McIlroy reflected on the challenges he overcame to claim his second consecutive Masters title, acknowledging that letting a record-breaking halfway lead slip would have been a tough outcome to accept. McIlroy, who became the fourth player to achieve back-to-back Masters wins, initially built a six-shot lead but found himself two behind during the final day. However, he responded with four birdies to secure a one-shot victory over Scottie Scheffler, joining an elite group of players including Jack Nicklaus, Sir Nick Faldo, and Tiger Woods. McIlroy admitted that winning The Masters is always difficult, and his experience has taught him that even with a significant lead, the outcome is never certain. He expressed his delight at being able to 'hang in there' and ultimately claim his sixth major title, recognizing the perseverance and hard work that have paid off in his 17th and 18th appearances at Augusta National.
