I Am Maximus is at the forefront of the 34 declared runners for the Randox Grand National, aiming to replicate the achievement of Red Rum, who won the prestigious steeplechase three times. Red Rum's victories in 1973, 1974, and 1977 serve as a benchmark for I Am Maximus, who is seeking to become the first horse to regain the title since Tiger Roll. Willie Mullins' I Am Maximus, who will be wearing cheekpieces for the second time, won the Grand National two years ago with Paul Townend and was narrowly beaten by stablemate Nick Rockett in 2025. The news of Nick Rockett's withdrawal due to a cough has bolstered I Am Maximus' chances.
