Pursuit of Eighth Title: Ronnie O'Sullivan Aims for Snooker History

The reigning champion, Zhao Xintong, is set to defend his title at the World Snooker Championship, while Ronnie O'Sullivan is on the cusp of making history with a record-breaking eighth world title. The competition will feature a strong field, including Judd Trump and four-time champion Mark Selby, as well as Kyren Wilson, Neil Robertson, and Shaun Murphy, starting on April 18. With a rich history dating back to 1927, the tournament has seen numerous legendary players, including Joe Davis, Steve Davis, Stephen Hendry, and Ronnie O'Sullivan, dominate the sport. As the first champion from China, Zhao Xintong will attempt to break the 'Crucible Curse' and become the first maiden winner to successfully defend the title. O'Sullivan, who will be making his 34th consecutive appearance at the iconic venue, will begin his campaign on April 21, with the top 16 seeds drawn at random against the 16 qualifying round winners. The tournament will also feature a highest break prize, as well as bonuses for maximum breaks made during the main stage and qualifying rounds. An additional bonus of £147,000 is on offer for any player who achieves two maximums across the Triple Crown events and the Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters.
