Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has etched his name in cricket history as the youngest player to score a century in the IPL, achieving this feat just nine days after making his record-breaking debut at the age of 14 in 2025. Now, at 15 years old, India's newest cricket sensation continues to impress, sparking discussions about his potential debut on the international stage. Sooryavanshi made headlines in his first IPL season with a 35-ball hundred at the age of 14, and he has consistently demonstrated his ability to perform under pressure with the Rajasthan Royals in the 2026 edition. He has already achieved two 15-ball fifties, against the Chennai Super Kings and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and is the third-highest run-scorer in the tournament with 200 runs from five innings at an impressive strike rate of 263.15. A golden duck in the recent defeat to the Sunrisers Hyderabad served as a reminder that Sooryavanshi is human, but his exceptional ball-striking power, physical presence, and composure at the crease have left seasoned professionals in awe. "It's unbelievable how someone can hit the ball like that. He's a great talent, and we're glad he's on our team," said India and Rajasthan Royals wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel. "When you're at the crease and Vaibhav is smashing every ball, it feels like nothing is happening on the wicket. Cricket isn't as easy as he's making it look." With potential international teammates like Jurel praising his abilities, it raises an important question. India has an abundance of emerging talent, and with their T20 team recently crowned World Cup winners, it remains to be seen whether the selectors will choose to alter a winning formula. A packed summer of white-ball fixtures provides ample opportunities for him to make his international debut. If he is not given a debut in the upcoming multi-format series against Afghanistan, his breakthrough could come in the British Isles, where India will face Ireland and England in seven T20Is and three ODIs in June and July.
