Prograis Predicts Benn's Risky Move Will Ultimately Backfire

Regis Prograis has cautioned that Conor Benn's bold decision will ultimately prove to be a misstep when the two fighters face off this weekend. Benn is set to return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the site of his previous middleweight wins over Chris Eubank Jr, for his third consecutive bout at the venue. Prograis, a former super-lightweight world champion, is moving up to 150lbs to challenge Benn at a catchweight with no rehydration limit. "Although they've dictated the terms, I'm confident in my ability to emerge victorious," Prograis stated in an interview with Sky Sports. "My entire career has been at 140lbs, so this is a significant jump for me. I proposed a weight stipulation for the following day, but they declined, stating it was non-negotiable. I chose to prioritize making the fight happen, rather than focusing on the weight." Prograis remains steadfast in his belief that he will triumph, and has also revealed that he will not be bound by a rematch clause following his bout with Benn. "There is no rematch clause in place," the American fighter explained. "However, if the fans demand it and it makes sense, I'd be open to a potential rematch. Initially, my plan was to move up to 147lbs, but I was training and in the gym when I received the call to fight Benn on six weeks' notice. They're taking a risk by facing me, given my current training and readiness." Prograis does not consider Benn to be on his level, saying, "I don't think he's in my class. I know I'm the better fighter." He views Benn as an average fighter, neither exceptional nor subpar. "If you compare our achievements, mine far surpass his. I've been ranked No 1 in the world twice and have held the championship title twice; Benn has not accomplished either of these feats. This fight will be vastly different from his previous bout against Chris Eubank." A win over Benn would serve as a catalyst for Prograis to pursue another world title opportunity. "The possibilities will be endless for me after this fight," he said. "I'm aware that a victory will lead to something substantial. My goal is to become a three-time champion."
