Trainer Evan Williams Sentenced to Three Years in Prison for Assaulting Dog Walker

Evan Williams, a 55-year-old horse trainer, has received a three-year prison sentence for attacking a 72-year-old dog walker on his property. The victim, Martin Dandridge, suffered serious injuries, including a fractured arm, during the assault, which occurred on December 4, 2024, in Llancarfan, Vale of Glamorgan, south Wales. Williams was found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm with intent after a trial at Cardiff Crown Court. The judge, Recorder Angharad Price, condemned Williams' actions, stating that he had made a choice to confront the victim instead of waiting for the police to arrive. The incident occurred 16 months ago, and the victim is still dealing with the aftermath. The judge highlighted that Williams had previously experienced a threatening incident on his property but emphasized that taking the law into his own hands was unacceptable. Williams is a renowned horse trainer with multiple Grade One wins, including successes at the Cheltenham Festival. His wife, Cath, has taken over his license following his conviction, and one of their horses recently won the Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Handicap Chase at Cheltenham.
