Assessing Arne Slot's Post-Match Complaints Following Liverpool's Champions League Elimination

The plan to combine Isak with fellow summer signings Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike in a new-look £320m attack has been disrupted by injuries, with Ekitike's worrying injury against PSG adding to Liverpool's frustration. Slot pointed out that he hasn't had the opportunity to use these three big names together often enough, saying, 'For 88 minutes [before Tuesday] we have played with Florian [Wirtz], Alex, and Hugo. We added about 27 to that [on Tuesday] and I would be surprised if we add more minutes to that this season.' The Dutchman also expressed his frustration with VAR decisions, citing the overturned penalty awarded to Mac Allister as another example of the officials' decisions going against his team. Slot noted that Liverpool were fortunate with a couple of decisions in Paris in the first leg but feels that the officials' decisions have consistently gone against them throughout the season. With Liverpool's Champions League exit, the pressure is on Slot to secure a top-five finish in the league to secure a Champions League place for next season.
