Tom Watson Criticizes PGA Tour for Allowing LIV Golf Defectors to Return

Golf legend Tom Watson has expressed disappointment with the PGA Tour's decision to welcome back players who defected to the LIV Golf League, citing a perceived breach of the tour's original stance on the matter. The PGA Tour recently introduced a program allowing a select group of top performers to return, with Brooks Koepka being one of the first to take advantage of this opportunity. As part of his reinstatement, Koepka made a $5 million charitable donation. Watson argued that this move goes against the tour's initial promise to ban players who joined LIV Golf for life, suggesting instead that they should have to play on the Korn Ferry Tour for a year to regain their PGA Tour eligibility. The decision has sparked debate, with some players, like Patrick Reed, set to return to the PGA Tour after serving a suspension. Reed emphasized his desire to compete against the best players in the world, which he believes is possible only on the PGA Tour.
