The final standings from the Masters tournament, the first major of the year, are in. Held at Augusta National in Augusta, Georgia, the event saw Rory McIlroy make history with a successful title defense.
McIlroy, the defending champion, had won the previous year's event in a playoff against Justin Rose, becoming the sixth player to achieve a career Grand Slam and the first since Tiger Woods. World number one Scottie Scheffler was the pre-tournament favorite but ultimately fell short, with McIlroy posting a one-under 71 to finish a shot ahead of him.
Tyrrell Hatton, Justin Rose, Cameron Young, and Russell Henley were tied for third, while Collin Morikawa and Sam Burns shared seventh place. The top 10 was rounded out by Max Homa and Xander Schauffele.
The Masters is the first of four majors in men's golf, followed by the PGA Championship, US Open, and The Open. The PGA Tour now heads to South Carolina for the RBC Heritage, where Justin Thomas will defend his title.
