According to Nigel Mansell, a former Formula 1 world champion, Lewis Hamilton has regained his momentum this season. Hamilton recently ended his 16-month drought without a podium finish in F1 by securing third place at the Chinese Grand Prix, marking his first rostrum finish since joining Ferrari in 2025.
Hamilton has also been more competitive with his teammate Charles Leclerc in terms of pace, a significant improvement from the previous year. The new regulations seem to favor Hamilton's driving style, and Mansell believes the seven-time world champion could win a race this season. Mansell stated, 'Lewis is fired up again, and it's fantastic to see him performing so well.' Hamilton's improved performance can be attributed to his enhanced preparation, both physically and mentally, as well as the changes made to the car.
He expressed that the previous year's car did not suit his driving style, but the new car has incorporated some of the elements he requested. The F1 season is heating up, with Mercedes currently in the lead, and the battle between George Russell and Kimi Antonelli for the championship is becoming increasingly intense. Mansell advised Russell to use his experience to gain an edge in the intra-team competition, saying, 'George is a great driver, but sometimes it's about focus and a bit of luck.' The Miami Grand Prix, the season's second Sprint weekend, is set to take place on May 1-3 and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports F1.
