Following a test on his wrist, he decided to withdraw from the tournament to prevent further injury. The two-time Barcelona champion had recently lost the Monte-Carlo Masters final and was looking to bounce back. Alcaraz expressed his disappointment, stating that he had to prioritize his health and recover as quickly as possible to prepare for upcoming tournaments, including the defense of his French Open title. Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic has announced his return to action at the Mutua Madrid Open, which will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Tennis. Djokovic, a three-time winner of the tournament, has not competed since losing to Jack Draper at Indian Wells in March.
