Prograis Predicts Benn's Risk Will Ultimately Backfire

Regis Prograis believes Conor Benn is taking a significant risk by facing him, and he's confident that this gamble will not pay off. Benn is set to return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where he has previously secured middleweight victories over Chris Eubank Jr, for his third consecutive bout at the venue. Prograis, a former super-lightweight world champion, is moving up to 150lbs to challenge Benn at a catchweight with no rehydration limit. "They've set the terms in his favor, but I'm certain I can emerge victorious," Prograis stated in an interview with Sky Sports. "I've spent my entire career fighting at 140lbs, so this is a substantial jump for me. "When I suggested a weight stipulation for the following day, they declined. I told them I didn't care and that we should focus on making the fight happen, rather than worrying about the weight. "I'm aware of my capabilities, and I'm not concerned about the weight stipulations. Let's prioritize making this fight a reality." Prograis remains confident in his ability to win and has also revealed that there is no rematch clause in place following his bout with Benn. "We don't have a rematch clause," the American boxer said. "However, if the fans want to see it again, I'm open to the idea. Why not? "Initially, my plan was to move up to 147lbs, but they contacted me on six weeks' notice. Fortunately, I was already training, so it worked out. "They're taking a risk by facing me, especially since I've been actively training." Prograis doesn't consider Benn to be on the same level as him. "I don't think so. I just can't see it. I know I'm the better fighter," he said. "In my opinion, Benn is an average fighter. He's not exceptional, but he's not terrible either. "If you look at our accomplishments, mine far surpass his. I've been ranked No 1 in the world twice and have held the championship title twice; he has not achieved that. "This fight will be vastly different from his bout with Chris Eubank. It's a different level and style of fighting, and I'm confident that I'm significantly better." Prograis hopes to use a win over Benn as a stepping stone to another world title opportunity. "A victory will open up numerous doors for me," he said. "I'm aware that after this fight, something substantial will arise. "My goal is to become a three-time champion."
