QPR and Bristol City Play Out Goalless Draw

QPR and Bristol City extended their unbeaten streaks with a 0-0 stalemate at Loftus Road. The Robins, now under the interim charge of Roy Hodgson, have not tasted defeat since his appointment, having secured back-to-back wins initially. Meanwhile, QPR are on a five-match unbeaten run and welcomed back Rumarn Burrell from the sidelines after over three months, with the player coming on as a substitute. City showed more promise in the first half, with their best chance falling to Scott Twine, who failed to properly connect with a half-volley. Goalkeeper Joe Walsh collected the strike, denied a shot from Mark Sykes, and parried a deflected effort from Emil Riis before reacting swiftly to prevent the loose ball from being turned in. At the other end, Kieran Morgan's shot went wide, Richard Kone headed straight at City's on-loan keeper Radek Vitek, and Noah Eile nearly diverted Paul Smyth's cross into his own net. After the interval, Walsh pushed a shot from Twine away for a corner, and Smyth sliced a shot wide of the near post following good work by Rayan Kolli on the wing. QPR head coach Julien Stephan altered his forward line midway through the second half, introducing Burrell and Daniel Bennie in place of Kone and Kolli. Burrell, who scored 10 goals before suffering a hamstring tear in January, made a significant impact upon his return but was unable to make an immediate difference as the visitors defended well. Bristol City have kept consecutive clean sheets and appear more solid under Hodgson, who inherited a team that had won just one of their previous nine matches. Both teams worked hard, but there were no notable chances in the closing stages. The lack of quality was exemplified in stoppage time when Tomi Horvat over-hit a pass, allowing Walsh to collect. QPR's Julien Stephan stated, 'The season is not over, and I think the players' effort today showed that it's not finished for us in their mindset.' Bristol City's Roy Hodgson noted, 'I thought the teams cancelled each other out. They made it difficult for us to get behind them, and we made it difficult for them. But I thought we were more adventurous in the second half, and the chances that were there went our way.'
