Conor Benn Sets Sights on Ryan Garcia for World Title Shot

Following his unanimous decision victory over Regis Prograis, Conor Benn has expressed his eagerness to face WBC welterweight champion Ryan Garcia. Benn's win, which was his first fight of the year, took place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and saw him overcome a tough challenge from the former world champion. Despite suffering cuts to his eye due to several head clashes, Benn emerged victorious and swiftly turned his attention to Garcia. In a social media video, Benn stated, 'Garcia, I want my belt! Keep my belt warm. September, let's go. Any day of the week. Twice on Sundays. 10 rounds, easy. Garcia, you're next.' Garcia, who won the WBC welterweight title in February, responded by saying, 'I'm down. Garcia vs Benn. Let's do it.' Benn's victory over Prograis, which improved his fight record to 25-1, was at a catchweight of 3lb above the welterweight limit. Benn has primarily fought at welterweight throughout his career, with his only professional defeat coming against Chris Eubank Jr at 160lb, a loss he avenged last year. Prograis pushed Benn hard, but the latter's superior speed and energy secured him a comfortable points victory. Benn commented, 'It was a great fight. Tough, durable, experience. I had to weather some storms but we are good. My first fight back at 150 for three years and now I'm ready to move down to 147 to get Ryan Garcia.'
