Hamilton's Resurgence: Former Champion Mansell Weighs In

According to Nigel Mansell, a former Formula 1 world champion, Lewis Hamilton has regained his momentum this season. Hamilton recently ended his 16-month drought without a podium finish in F1, securing a third-place finish at the Chinese Grand Prix, his first rostrum finish since joining Ferrari in 2025. The 41-year-old has also been consistently closer to his teammate Charles Leclerc in terms of pace, a significant improvement from his struggles with the previous generation of F1 cars. Mansell believes the new regulations this year suit Hamilton's driving style and does not rule out the possibility of the seven-time world champion winning a race this season. "Lewis is fired up again, and it's fantastic what he's doing," Mansell told Sky Sports News. Hamilton attributes his return to form to better preparation, stating that he "prepared my mind and body better than ever." When Hamilton joined Ferrari last year, he had no input in the car's development, and it did not suit his driving style. However, this year's car is a new start, and Hamilton is grateful that the team incorporated some of the changes he requested. Mansell, who was involved in several title fights before becoming world champion in 1992, thinks this year's F1 Drivers' Championship could become a two-horse race between Mercedes drivers George Russell and Kimi Antonelli. Mansell advises Russell to use his experience to win the intra-team battle, saying, "George is a great driver, but sometimes it's how the chips fall, and you have to lead by incredible focus."
