Rachael Blackmore to Receive Grand National Legend Honor

Rachael Blackmore, the pioneering female jockey who etched her name in the record books by winning the Randox Grand National, is to be inducted as a Grand National Legend in 2026. The 36-year-old retired jockey, who guided Minella Times to triumph at Aintree in 2021, will be formally recognized in a ceremony on the opening day of the Grand National Festival. Blackmore joins an esteemed group of racing legends, including Ginger McCain, Jenny Pitman, and JP McManus, as well as revered equine stars such as Red Rum, Tiger Roll, and Aldaniti, in receiving this prestigious honor. The ceremony will be held near the newly renamed Blackmore's Bar, which Rachael will officially open on Thursday. Reflecting on the achievement, Blackmore stated: "My Grand National win on Minella Times at Aintree is an unforgettable moment in my life. To see my name alongside other Grand National Legends is a tremendous honor, and I feel privileged to be part of this history. I'm also excited to launch Blackmore's Bar at the racecourse, which is a unique concept that I hope will be enjoyable for everyone during the festival week." Following her retirement from racing in May 2025 with 575 career wins, including 18 victories at the Cheltenham Festival, Blackmore's induction serves as a testament to her remarkable achievements in the sport.
