Carlos Alcaraz has admitted that his position as world number one is under threat, with Jannik Sinner closing in on him at the Monte-Carlo Masters. The Italian's 6-3 6-0 victory over Ugo Humbert showcased his momentum on clay, following his success in the 'Sunshine Double' of Indian Wells and Miami Open. Alcaraz, meanwhile, secured a 6-1 6-3 win against Sebastian Baez, marking his 14th consecutive victory on clay. However, he acknowledges that Sinner has the potential to overtake him in the rankings, saying 'I'm going to lose the number one spot' and that his focus is on adapting to the clay courts rather than defending his ranking. The tournament also saw British No 1 Cameron Norrie exit in the second round, losing to Alex De Minaur in three sets.
