Fury vs. AJ: Promoter Predicts 'Boxing's World Cup Final' This Year

According to manager Spencer Brown, Tyson Fury is set to face Anthony Joshua this year. Brown, who is also promoting Fury's comeback fight against Arslanbek Makhmudov, believes a victory over Makhmudov will pave the way for the highly anticipated showdown with Joshua. Brown expressed his enthusiasm, stating that the potential fight between Fury and Joshua would be the 'World Cup final of boxing.' He emphasized that the time has come for this long-awaited match, and it is expected to take place this year, although the timeline may be extended if Joshua decides to have a warm-up fight first. The wait for the Fury-Joshua fight could be prolonged if Joshua chooses to take a tune-up bout, as he is currently recovering from a car accident that claimed the lives of two of his close friends. Brown noted that Joshua has two options: to have a warm-up fight and then face Fury, or to go straight into training and face Fury directly. He stated that Fury is ready whenever Joshua is, and the ball is in Joshua's court. Brown also acknowledged that Makhmudov poses a significant threat to Fury, describing him as a formidable opponent with a strong amateur record and the ability to knock out his opponents. The promoter has invited Joshua to attend Fury's fight against Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, and he expects Joshua to be there, along with other notable figures like Usyk.
