Andreeva Secures Spot in Linz Final Against Potapova

Mirra Andreeva has booked her place in her second WTA Tour final of the year after defeating Elena-Gabriela Ruse 6-4, 6-1 in the Linz Open semi-finals. Andreeva, the top seed, made a strong start by breaking Ruse's serve in the opening game, but then struggled with her own service, conceding back-to-back breaks. However, she regained her composure, breaking Ruse to love in the eighth game and then again in the next service game to claim the set 6-4. Andreeva dominated the second set, breaking Ruse in the fourth and sixth games, before serving out the match 6-4, 6-1 after an hour and 27 minutes. Anastasia Potapova will join Andreeva in the final, having overcome Donna Vekic 6-4, 6-2 in the other semi-final. Potapova took an early lead, going 4-1 up, but Vekic fought back before the Russian regained control to take the first set. Potapova continued to dictate the pace in the second set, building a 4-0 lead, and eventually secured her first win over Vekic in their last three meetings. This will be Potapova's first final since her title win on debut three years ago. Notably, Potapova, who represented Russia until December 2025, becomes the first Austrian to reach the tournament's final since its inception in 1991. The final will be the fourth meeting between Andreeva and Potapova, with the 18-year-old Andreeva having won their last two encounters, although they have not yet faced each other on clay.
