Rachael Blackmore Set to Receive Grand National Legend Honor

Historic jockey Rachael Blackmore, the first woman to claim victory in the Randox Grand National, is slated for induction as a Grand National Legend in 2026. Following her groundbreaking win aboard Minella Times at Aintree in 2021, the now-retired 36-year-old rider will be feted in a ceremony marking the Grand National Festival's opening day this Thursday. Blackmore joins an elite group of racing luminaries, including Ginger McCain, Jenny Pitman, and JP McManus, as well as celebrated horses Red Rum, Tiger Roll, and Aldaniti, in being named a Grand National Legend. The ceremony will be held near the newly christened Blackmore's Bar, which Rachael will officially open on Thursday. Reflecting on her achievement, Blackmore stated: "My Grand National win at Aintree with Minella Times is an unforgettable moment. It's a tremendous honor to be included among the Grand National Legends, and I feel fortunate to be a part of this history. I'm also excited to launch Blackmore's Bar, a unique concept that I hope will bring enjoyment to attendees during the festival." After announcing her retirement in May 2025 with 575 career wins, including 18 Cheltenham Festival successes, Blackmore's legacy continues to inspire.
