David Warner Faces Drink Driving Charges in Sydney

Renowned Australian cricketer David Warner has been reportedly charged with a drink driving offense in Sydney. According to the New South Wales police, a 39-year-old individual was stopped on Sunday evening in Maroubra, Sydney, during a random breath test. The initial breath test yielded a positive result, which was later confirmed by a second test at the police station. A statement released by the New South Wales Police stated: "At approximately 5:30 pm, police were conducting random breath testing on Malabar Road, Maroubra, when a van allegedly stopped short of the testing site and parked. Officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command approached the vehicle and administered a roadside test to the driver, a 39-year-old man, which returned a positive result. He was subsequently arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station, where a second test allegedly yielded a reading of 0.104." Warner is scheduled to appear in court on May 7 to address charges related to a 'middle-range' prescribed concentration of alcohol offense, just days before the PSL final on May 3 in Lahore. Having retired from international cricket in 2024, Warner continues to participate in franchise cricket and is currently captaining the Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League. Although he was granted time at home over Easter, it is unclear whether he will participate in the upcoming game against Peshawar Zalmi on Thursday.
