Mainoo Nears New Manchester United Deal
Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has stated that Kobbie Mainoo is nearing a new deal with the club. The 20-year-old midfielder's current contract, signed in 2023, is set to expire in 2027, but the club is keen to offer him a new agreement that reflects his progress and current status within the team. The proposed five-year deal would be a significant improvement on his current terms and would run until 2031. Carrick expressed optimism about the negotiations, saying, 'It's getting closer, we're positive with that.' Mainoo has become a regular starter for the team under Carrick, featuring in each of the last ten Premier League matches, and was also recently included in Thomas Tuchel's England squad. His fortunes at Old Trafford have undergone a significant turnaround since Carrick took over, having previously been deemed surplus to requirements by former head coach Ruben Amorim.
