Following his recent signing with Zuffa Boxing, Chris Billam-Smith has expressed his desire to face Jai Opetaia, aiming to solidify his position as the world's best in the cruiserweight division. Billam-Smith, a former WBO cruiserweight world champion, is set to fight live on Sky Sports after inking a deal with Zuffa. His last bout was a victory over Brandon Glanton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. Opetaia, also a Zuffa fighter, recently became the inaugural Zuffa world cruiserweight champion with a win over Glanton.
Billam-Smith emphasized that he and Opetaia are two of the biggest names in the cruiserweight division and that a fight between them is inevitable. He stated, 'We're two of the biggest names in the cruiserweight division. We're both signed under the same promoter.' Billam-Smith believes that Zuffa will provide him with the platform to prove his superiority by competing against the best fighters, including Opetaia. Having not fought in over a year, Billam-Smith has been in training camp since January and is eager to announce his next fight soon.
He hopes to return to the ring in the UK, preferably in his hometown of Bournemouth, where he has had some of his most notable career victories.
