Rachael Blackmore to Receive Grand National Legend Honors

Rachael Blackmore, the first female jockey to claim the Randox Grand National title, is to be honored as a Grand National Legend in 2026. The now-retired 36-year-old jockey, who led Minella Times to victory in 2021, will receive this prestigious recognition at a ceremony marking the start of the Grand National Festival this Thursday. Joining an esteemed group of racing icons, including Ginger McCain, Jenny Pitman, and JP McManus, as well as legendary horses like Red Rum, Tiger Roll, and Aldaniti, Blackmore's achievement is a testament to her remarkable career. The induction ceremony will be held near the newly renamed Blackmore's Bar, which Rachael will officially open on the same day. Reflecting on this honor, Blackmore expressed her gratitude, stating that winning the Grand National was a defining moment in her life and that being named a Grand National Legend is a privilege. She also looks forward to opening Blackmore's Bar, an innovative addition to the racecourse. Having retired in May 2025 with 575 career wins, including 18 Cheltenham Festival successes, Blackmore's legacy continues to inspire.
