Hull FC Announces John Cartwright's Departure at Season's End

John Cartwright, the head coach of Hull FC, will be leaving the club after the conclusion of the 2026 Super League season. Cartwright was appointed prior to the 2025 campaign, during which the team finished seventh, and currently, they are ninth in the 2026 standings with three wins and four losses after seven rounds. Having overseen 39 games, with 19 wins, Cartwright was initially contracted until the end of the 2027 season but will be released a year early. According to Hull's CEO, Richie Myler, Cartwright played a crucial role in restoring stability and competitiveness. The club has expressed gratitude for his contributions and stated that Cartwright will continue to lead the squad for the remainder of the season. Following the announcement, players reportedly skipped a training session, seeking communication from the club regarding the decision. The club is currently in the process of securing a new head coach for the 2027 season and has been linked to former Catalans Dragons head coach Steve McNamara, who previously played for Hull FC.
