Rachael Blackmore to Receive Grand National Legend Honor

Rachael Blackmore, the trailblazing jockey who etched her name in history by becoming the first woman to win the Randox Grand National, will be formally recognized as a Grand National Legend in 2026. The now-retired 36-year-old, who guided Minella Times to victory at Aintree in 2021, will be feted in a ceremony marking the opening day of the Grand National Festival this Thursday. Blackmore will join an illustrious group of Grand National Legends, including esteemed trainers Ginger McCain and Jenny Pitman, renowned owner JP McManus, and legendary horses Red Rum, Tiger Roll, and Aldaniti. The induction ceremony will take place near the newly named Blackmore's Bar, which Rachael will officially unveil on Thursday. Reflecting on the honor, Blackmore stated, 'The memory of winning the Randox Grand National on Minella Times at Aintree is forever etched in my mind. To see my name alongside the Grand National Legends is a tremendous honor, and I feel privileged to be a part of this legacy. I'm also excited to launch Blackmore's Bar at the racecourse, an unexpected yet thrilling opportunity.' Following her retirement from riding in May 2025, with an impressive 575 career wins, including 18 Cheltenham Festival victories, Blackmore continues to leave her mark on the sport.
