Great Britain Stuns Australia, Advances to Billie Jean King Cup Finals

In a thrilling match, Jodie Burrage and Harriet Dart led Great Britain to a 3-0 win over Australia in the Billie Jean King Cup qualifier, sealing their spot in the finals. The British duo dominated their doubles match against Storm Hunter and Ellen Perez, winning in straight sets 6-3, 6-4. After initially trailing 3-1 in the first set, Burrage and Dart regained their footing, winning five consecutive games after the roof was closed on John Cain Arena. The pair then served out the match in the second set, securing the victory for their team. An emotional Burrage expressed her pride in their performance, saying, 'That feels amazing... I'm proud of us for the way that we played.' Dart added, 'It's crazy... to be able to make the finals is just kind of surreal.' Despite being without key players Emma Raducanu, Sonay Kartal, Katie Boulter, and Fran Jones, Great Britain's team, including debutant Mika Stojsavljevic, delivered impressive singles victories on Friday. The team will proceed to the Billie Jean King Cup Finals in Shenzhen, China, in September, competing against the other six tie winners and host nation China. Captain Anne Keothavong expressed her joy, stating, 'We're all just overjoyed... it's been an unbelievable week here in Melbourne.' Keothavong believes Great Britain is 'due something special' after reaching the semi-finals last year and is confident that they can win the Billie Jean King Cup.
