Hull FC Announces John Cartwright's Departure at Season's End

Currently, the team is ninth in the 2026 table with three wins and four losses after seven rounds. During his tenure, Cartwright has been in charge of 39 games, securing 19 wins. Initially contracted until the end of the 2027 season, the club has decided to release him from his contract a year early. Richie Myler, Hull's CEO, expressed gratitude for Cartwright's role in restoring stability and competitiveness. Cartwright will continue to lead the team for the remainder of the season, and the club is working to secure a new head coach for the 2027 season. Following the announcement, the players reportedly skipped a scheduled training session, seeking communication from club officials. The club has confirmed they are in the process of finding a replacement, with former Catalans Dragons head coach Steve McNamara being approached.
