David Warner Faces Drink Driving Charges in Sydney

Renowned Australian cricketer David Warner has been accused of drink driving in Sydney, according to reports. On Sunday night, New South Wales police conducted a random breath test in Maroubra, Sydney, which resulted in a 39-year-old individual being pulled over. The initial breath test yielded a positive result, and a subsequent test at the police station also returned a positive result. A statement from the New South Wales Police stated: "On April 5, at approximately 5:30 pm, police were conducting random breath testing on Malabar Road, Maroubra, when a van allegedly stopped short of the testing site and parked. Officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command approached the vehicle and administered a roadside test, which returned a positive result. The 39-year-old driver was then arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station, where a second test allegedly yielded a reading of 0.104." Warner is scheduled to appear in court on May 7 to address charges of a 'middle-range' prescribed concentration of alcohol offense, just days before the PSL final on May 3 in Lahore. Having retired from international cricket in 2024, Warner continues to participate in franchise cricket and is currently leading the Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League. It was previously reported that he would be rejoining his team ahead of their match against Peshawar Zalmi on Thursday, following a brief stint at home over Easter; however, it remains uncertain whether he will participate in this fixture.
