Prograis Predicts Benn's Risky Strategy Will Ultimately Backfire

Regis Prograis believes Conor Benn is taking a significant risk by facing him, and this gamble will not pay off. Benn is set to return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where he previously secured middleweight victories over Chris Eubank Jr, for his third consecutive bout at the venue. Prograis, a former super-lightweight world champion, is moving up to 150lbs to compete against Benn at a catchweight with no rehydration limit. Prograis expressed confidence in his ability to win, stating that while the fight is on Benn's terms, he is not concerned about the weight stipulations. He revealed that he had requested a weight stipulation for the day after the fight, but it was denied. Despite this, Prograis is eager to proceed with the bout, asserting that he is the better fighter. Prograis also disclosed that there is no rematch clause in place for his fight against Benn. However, he is open to a potential rematch if the public demands it. Initially, Prograis had planned to move up to 147lbs, but he received a call to fight Benn on six weeks' notice. Fortunately, he was already training, which made the short notice more manageable. Prograis views Benn's decision to fight him as a gamble, given his own level of preparation. In his assessment of Benn, Prograis stated that he does not consider him to be in the same class as himself. He described Benn as an 'okay fighter' but not exceptional. Prograis highlighted his own accomplishments, including being a two-time world champion and ranked No 1 in the world twice, which he believes surpass Benn's achievements. Prograis is looking to use a win over Benn as a stepping stone to another world title shot. He anticipates that a victory will create numerous opportunities for him and is determined to become a three-time champion.
