Prograis Predicts Benn's Risk Will Ultimately Backfire

Regis Prograis believes Conor Benn is taking a significant risk by facing him, and predicts it will ultimately end in defeat for Benn when they meet in the ring this weekend. Benn is set to fight at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the third consecutive time, a venue where he has previously enjoyed middleweight victories over Chris Eubank Jr. Prograis, a former super-lightweight world champion, is moving up to 150lbs to face Benn at a catchweight with no rehydration limit. "They've certainly given him the advantage by setting the terms, but I'm confident in my ability to win," Prograis stated in an interview with Sky Sports. "I've spent my entire career fighting at 140lbs, so this is a substantial jump for me. I proposed a weight stipulation for the day after the fight, but they declined, saying it wasn't going to happen." Prograis expressed his unwavering confidence in his abilities, saying, "I know I'm the better fighter, and I'm not concerned about the weight stipulations. My focus is on making this fight happen and emerging victorious." He also revealed that there is no rematch clause in place following his fight with Benn. "We don't have a rematch clause, but if the fans want to see it again, I'd be open to it," Prograis said. "Initially, my plan was to move to 147lbs, but I didn't plan on going to 150. However, they contacted me on six weeks' notice, and since I was already training, it worked out. They're definitely taking a risk by facing me, given that I've been actively training." Prograis doesn't consider Benn to be in the same class as him, saying, "I don't think so. I know I'm the better fighter." He described Benn as "an okay fighter, but not great and not bad either." Prograis highlighted the difference in their accomplishments, saying, "If you look at our achievements, mine far surpass his. I've been ranked No 1 in the world twice and have been a champion twice, which is something he has never accomplished." Prograis is eager to use a win over Benn as a stepping stone to another world title shot. "A victory will open up numerous opportunities for me, and I know it will lead to something significant. My goal is to become a three-time champion."
