McIlroy Reflects on 'Incredible' Masters Victory

Rory McIlroy has expressed his delight at securing a historic back-to-back Masters titles, overcoming a challenging final round to claim a one-shot victory over Scottie Scheffler. McIlroy's triumph marks only the fourth time a player has achieved consecutive Masters wins, joining an elite group of golfers including Jack Nicklaus, Sir Nick Faldo, and Tiger Woods. The world No 2 had built a record-breaking six-shot lead halfway through the tournament but faced a tough final day, falling two behind playing partner Cameron Young at one point. However, McIlroy responded with four birdies to secure his sixth major title. 'I thought it was so difficult to win last year because of trying to win The Masters and the Grand Slam, then this year I realised it's just really difficult to win The Masters,' McIlroy admitted. He also acknowledged that having a six-shot lead going into the weekend would have made it a 'bitter pill to swallow' if he hadn't managed to secure the win. McIlroy's victory marks a significant milestone in his career, completing the third leg of the Grand Slam and claiming his second Green Jacket in as many years.
