Former Hull FC head coach John Cartwright expressed his feelings of betrayal and disrespect after the club confirmed his exit without providing a clear explanation. The announcement, made on April 7, stated that Cartwright would be leaving the club at the end of the current Betfred Super League season, with the club opting to exercise a six-month termination clause. Despite his efforts to seek clarification, Cartwright remains in the dark about the reasons behind the decision.
In a recent interview, he stated, 'I still haven't been given a reason, to be honest with you. I don't know.
I have asked and I expect to sit down with someone in the not-too-distant future.' Cartwright, who took the reins at the MKM Stadium in 2025, led the team to a seventh-place finish, their highest since 2020. The club has already begun the process of finding a new coach for the 2027 season and currently sits ninth in the Super League standings. Cartwright has assured that he will continue to fulfill his duties, saying, 'I'll still do my job. I won't do anything that will put that at risk.'
