Aston Martin's Struggles to Continue for Some Time, Says Brundle

According to Sky Sports F1's Martin Brundle, Aston Martin's current woes are far from over, with the team's 'horror show' at the beginning of the 2026 season unlikely to be fully resolved anytime soon. The team has endured a nightmare start to the new era of rules, failing to come close to scoring a point in the year's three race weekends. Fernando Alonso's 18th-place finish in Japan was the only instance where either of their cars completed a full Grand Prix. Brundle emphasized the difficulties Aston Martin faces, stating that they lack both speed and reliability. He believes it will be very challenging to turn things around in the time available, given the relentless Formula 1 championship calendars and cost caps. The team needs to get the right people in at Honda and determine the right direction, but improvements are not expected until 2027. Aston Martin and Honda are working hard to improve their package, with a cure for engine vibrations being a top priority. The team is also set to receive catch-up upgrade opportunities under the Additional Development and Upgrade Opportunities rules for 2026. Fellow Sky Sports F1 commentator David Croft described the situation as a long-term project, suggesting that a B-spec car is more likely to appear at Spa than Silverstone. He believes the team will struggle all season until the chassis can accommodate the power unit and the power unit's vibrations are reduced.
