Rachael Blackmore to Receive Grand National Legend Honors

Rachael Blackmore, the trailblazing jockey who etched her name in history as the first woman to claim the Randox Grand National, is set to be enshrined as a Grand National Legend in 2026. Following her groundbreaking victory on Minella Times at Aintree in 2021, the 36-year-old, now retired, will be formally recognized at a ceremony marking the opening day of the Grand National Festival this Thursday. Blackmore joins an esteemed group of racing legends, including Ginger McCain, Jenny Pitman, and JP McManus, as well as iconic horses like Red Rum, Tiger Roll, and Aldaniti. The tribute ceremony will be held near the newly named Blackmore's Bar, which Rachael will officially unveil on Thursday. Reflecting on her achievement, Blackmore expressed her profound gratitude, stating that her Grand National win is an unforgettable moment and being named among the Grand National Legends is a significant honor. She also looks forward to opening Blackmore's Bar, an innovative addition to the racecourse. Blackmore concluded her riding career in May 2025 with an impressive tally of 575 wins, including 18 victories at the Cheltenham Festival.
