Prograis Predicts Benn's Risky Strategy Will Ultimately Backfire

Regis Prograis has cautioned that Conor Benn's bold move will ultimately prove to be a misguided one when the two face off this weekend. Benn is set to return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the same venue where he secured middleweight victories over Chris Eubank Jr, for his third consecutive bout at the football ground. Prograis, a former super-lightweight world champion, is moving up to 150lbs to take on Benn at a catchweight with no rehydration limit. 'They've certainly set the terms in his favor, but I'm confident I can emerge victorious,' Prograis stated in an interview with Sky Sports. 'I've spent my entire career fighting at 140lbs, so this is a significant jump for me.' Prograis revealed that he proposed a weight stipulation for the day after the fight, but it was rejected. 'I told them I didn't care about the weight, I just wanted to make the fight happen,' he explained. Despite the challenges, Prograis remains steadfast in his belief that he will triumph. He also disclosed that there is no rematch clause in place following his bout with Benn. 'We don't have a rematch clause, but if the fans want to see it again, I'm open to it,' the American said. Prograis had initially planned to move up to 147lbs, but he received a call to fight Benn on six weeks' notice. 'I was already training, so it worked out,' he said. 'Benn's team is taking a risk by facing me, given that I've been actively training.' Prograis doesn't consider Benn to be on his level, saying, 'I don't think so. I know I'm the better fighter.' He described Benn as 'an okay fighter, but not great and not bad.' Prograis pointed to his own accomplishments, including being ranked No 1 in the world twice and holding the championship title twice. 'It's a different level and style, and I know I'm way better,' he asserted. A win over Benn would serve as a springboard for Prograis to pursue another world title shot. 'It'll open up numerous opportunities for me,' he said. 'I'm confident that after this fight, something big will come my way. I want to become a three-time champion.'
