Renowned Australian cricketer David Warner has been accused of driving while intoxicated in Sydney, according to reports. On Sunday evening, New South Wales police conducted a random breath test in Maroubra, Sydney, during which a 39-year-old was pulled over. The initial test yielded a positive result, and a subsequent test at the police station also came back positive. In a statement, the New South Wales Police said, "On April 5, at approximately 5:30 pm, police were conducting random breath testing on Malabar Road, Maroubra.
A van allegedly stopped short of the testing site and parked. Officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command approached the vehicle and administered a roadside test, which returned a positive result. The driver, a 39-year-old man, was arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station, where a second test allegedly showed a reading of 0.104." Warner is scheduled to appear in court on May 7 to face charges of driving with a mid-range prescribed concentration of alcohol.
The incident occurred while Warner was on a break from the Pakistan Super League, where he is currently captain of the Karachi Kings. His participation in the team's upcoming game against Peshawar Zalmi on Thursday is now uncertain.
