Hull FC Head Coach John Cartwright to Depart at Season's End

John Cartwright, the head coach of Hull FC, will be leaving the club following the conclusion of the 2026 Super League season. Cartwright was appointed to the position prior to the 2025 campaign, during which the team finished seventh. Currently, they are ranked ninth in the 2026 standings, with three wins and four losses after seven rounds. Having overseen 39 games for the club and secured 19 victories, Cartwright was initially contracted until the end of the 2027 season. However, the club has decided to release him from his contract a year early. According to Hull's CEO, Richie Myler, Cartwright played a crucial role in restoring stability and competitiveness to the team during his tenure. Myler expressed the board's gratitude for Cartwright's contributions and stated that he will continue to lead the squad for the remainder of the season. The club is currently in the process of securing a new head coach for the 2027 season and will provide updates in due course. It has been reported that the club has approached former Catalans Dragons head coach Steve McNamara, who is currently an assistant coach at Warrington Wolves, to potentially fill the position.
