David Warner Faces Drink Driving Charges in Sydney

Renowned Australian cricketer David Warner has been allegedly charged with driving under the influence in Sydney. According to the New South Wales police, a 39-year-old individual was stopped on Sunday evening in Maroubra, Sydney, during a random breath test. The initial breath test yielded a positive result, which was later confirmed by a second test at the police station. As stated by the New South Wales Police, "At approximately 5:30 pm, police conducted stationary random breath testing on Malabar Road, Maroubra. A van was seen to allegedly stop short of the testing site and park. Officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command approached the vehicle and subjected the driver - a 39-year-old man - to roadside testing, which returned a positive result. He was arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station, where a second test allegedly returned a reading of 0.104." Warner is scheduled to appear in court on May 7 to address charges of a 'middle-range' prescribed concentration of alcohol offense. This development comes as Warner, who retired from international cricket in 2024, continues to play in the franchise circuit and currently captains the Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League. His participation in the upcoming game against Peshawar Zalmi on Thursday remains uncertain.
