Fury Vows to Set an Example with Makhmudov

During their final press conference on Thursday, Arslanbek Makhmudov lifted Tyson Fury off the ground in a bear hug, but Fury took it lightly, joking with Makhmudov beforehand and afterwards. Fury is determined to start his journey to becoming a three-time world champion when he faces Makhmudov this weekend. This fight marks his return to boxing after a brief retirement, following his loss to Oleksandr Usyk in December 2024. For Fury, this is the first step in reclaiming a world title. Fury stated, "I'm the hunter now, not the hunted. I'm the top man in this division, and I'll prove it repeatedly." He believes that sooner or later, he will have to fight the current titleholders, Usyk and Fabio Wardley, and is confident that he will come out on top. At 37 years old, Fury will have to prove his doubters wrong, including his own father, who questions his ability to make a successful comeback. Fury remains confident, saying, "I've still got it... Speedy, skillful, handsome, and destructive... I've never lost my speed or reactions." He warned that he cannot underestimate Makhmudov, saying, "Give this man his respect... I've never overlooked anybody in my life, and I've definitely not overlooked this beast." Fury expressed his sympathy for Makhmudov, stating, "I'm going to make an example of him... I'll knock his head right off his shoulders. I'm ready to rock and roll."
