Rose Relaxed in Masters Bid as He Chases Redemption

Justin Rose is shrugging off the pressure of avenging last year's Masters heartbreak, instead embracing the challenge of a fresh push for the title. Having narrowly missed out to Rory McIlroy in a playoff, Rose is once again in contention after rounds of 70 and 69 at Augusta National. He believes his past experiences, including three runner-up finishes, have taught him that he can win at The Masters. Rose said, 'It's very satisfying to be in contention, it's a continuation of being on the leaderboard and enjoying this great tournament.' He added that he feels no added pressure due to last year's near-miss, instead focusing on enjoying the competition and the crowd's energy. Rose recovered from an early bogey to post four birdies and sits five under. Fellow Englishman Tyrrell Hatton also made a strong push, posting a six-under 66 with seven birdies. Hatton reflected on his round, saying, 'I would have loved to have made at least a par at the last, but there were a lot of positives today.' World No 1 Scottie Scheffler struggled, bogeying both par-fives on the second nine to card a two-over 74. Scheffler felt he played better than his score, but a slow start and a few missed opportunities hindered his progress. The Masters continues on Saturday, with live coverage on Sky Sports Golf and Sky Sports+.
