AJ Refuses to Commit to Fury Showdown After Being Called Out

Anthony Joshua has stated that he will likely face Tyson Fury in his next bout, but he refused to commit to the highly anticipated British heavyweight showdown after being challenged by Fury. Joshua, who was in attendance at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to watch Fury defeat Arslanbek Makhmudov, remained non-committal when asked about a potential fight. Fury had immediately called out Joshua after his victory, saying 'I want you, AJ, Anthony Joshua. Let's give the fight fans what they want - the Battle of Britain.' However, Joshua refused to rise to the bait, stating 'You ain't going to tell me what to do. I've been chasing you for the last 10 years. When you're ready, you come and see me and tell me your terms and conditions and I'll have you in the ring when I'm ready.' Joshua later clarified his stance in an interview, explaining that he wants to agree to the fight through official contract negotiations rather than in the heat of the moment. The bout between Joshua and Fury, two of the greatest heavyweights of their generation, has been mooted for years but has yet to come to fruition.
