Rachael Blackmore to Receive Grand National Legend Honor

Rachael Blackmore, a trailblazing jockey who made history by becoming the first woman to win the prestigious Randox Grand National, will be formally inducted as a Grand National Legend in 2026. This distinction comes after her remarkable achievement in 2021, where she guided Minella Times to victory at Aintree. The 36-year-old, who has since retired from professional riding, will be recognized in a special ceremony on the opening day of the Grand National Festival this Thursday. Blackmore will join an esteemed group of racing legends, including Ginger McCain, Jenny Pitman, and JP McManus, as well as legendary horses like Red Rum, Tiger Roll, and Aldaniti. The ceremony will take place near the newly renamed Blackmore's Bar, which Rachael will officially open on Thursday. Expressing her gratitude, Blackmore reflected on her historic win, stating that it is a moment she will always treasure, and she feels privileged to be included among the Grand National Legends.
