Rachael Blackmore to Receive Grand National Legend Honour

Rachael Blackmore, the trailblazing jockey who etched her name in history by becoming the first woman to win the Randox Grand National, is set to be inducted as a Grand National Legend in 2026. This prestigious accolade comes after her remarkable victory at Aintree in 2021, where she expertly guided Minella Times to the top spot. The 36-year-old, who has since retired from professional riding, will be formally honoured during a ceremony on the first day of the Grand National Festival this Thursday. Blackmore will join an esteemed group of racing legends, including Ginger McCain, Jenny Pitman, and JP McManus, as well as iconic horses such as Red Rum, Tiger Roll, and Aldaniti. The induction ceremony will be held near the newly renamed Blackmore's Bar, which Rachael will officially open on Thursday. Reflecting on her achievement, Blackmore expressed her gratitude, stating that winning the Grand National was an unforgettable moment and that being named a Grand National Legend is a tremendous honour. She also expressed enthusiasm for the opening of Blackmore's Bar, describing it as a unique and exciting concept. Blackmore's illustrious career was marked by 575 wins, including 18 victories at the Cheltenham Festival, before her retirement in May 2025.
