Transgender Women Barred from Competing in Female Darts Tournaments

The Darts Regulation Authority has announced a new policy, stating that only individuals assigned female at birth will be eligible to participate in women's darts tournaments. This decision was made after a thorough review of the authority's Trans and Gender Diverse Policy, which included a report by a developmental biologist and consideration of extensive legal advice and recent court rulings. As a result, transgender females, including Noa-Lynn van Leuven, a prominent player who has won six titles on the women's tour, will no longer be allowed to compete in women's events. However, they will still be able to participate in open tournaments. Van Leuven has expressed her disappointment and frustration with the decision, describing it as a significant setback for the trans community. The Darts Regulation Authority has stated that it aims to be inclusive and will continue to monitor developments related to transgender participation in sports, reviewing its Eligibility Policy annually.
