Andreeva Secures Spot in Linz Final Against Potapova

Mirra Andreeva has reached her second WTA Tour final of the year after defeating Elena-Gabriela Ruse 6-4, 6-1 in the semi-finals of the Linz Open. Andreeva, the top seed, broke Ruse's serve in the opening game but then lost her own serve twice. However, she regained her composure and broke Ruse to love in the eighth game to level the score at 4-4. Andreeva then broke Ruse again to take the first set 6-4. She dominated the second set, breaking Ruse's serve in the fourth and sixth games, and served out the match in 1 hour and 27 minutes, winning 6-4, 6-1. Anastasia Potapova will face Andreeva in the final after beating Donna Vekic 6-4, 6-2 in the semi-finals. Potapova took an early lead, going 4-1 up, but Vekic fought back. Potapova held on to take the first set and continued her dominance in the second set, building a 4-0 lead before securing her first win over Vekic in their last three meetings. This will be Potapova's first final since she won the title on her debut three years ago. It will be the fourth meeting between Andreeva and Potapova, with Andreeva having won their last two encounters, but they have not played each other on clay before.
