Millwall Held to Goalless Draw by Resilient West Brom

Millwall's Josh Coburn missed a golden opportunity in the first half, as his team was forced to settle for a 0-0 draw against an impressive West Brom, who took a significant step towards securing their Championship survival. Coburn, recently named Championship Player of the Month for March, failed to capitalize on a point-blank chance, steering a Thierno Ballo pass wide. The draw propelled Millwall into the top two, but they failed to fully capitalize on playing first over the weekend, as Ipswich and Middlesbrough trail by just one point ahead of their Saturday fixtures. A point for Millwall means Coventry could now secure promotion to the Premier League if they defeat Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday and Middlesbrough fail to win. West Brom, now unbeaten in seven games, have a five-point cushion above the relegation zone. While Millwall had the clearer chances, West Brom will feel they deserved all three points. The first half belonged to Millwall, who also hit the bar through Mihailo Ivanovic's curling effort. However, the second half was dominated by West Brom. The Albion had several moments of ascendancy throughout the match but only tested Nathan Patterson in the 82nd minute, when he denied Jayson Molumby from close range. Daniel Imray's intervention at the back post also prevented Tom Watson from scoring, ensuring a clean sheet for West Brom. Attention now shifts to Coventry's match against Sheffield Wednesday and Ipswich's trip to Norwich, both live on Sky, as well as Middlesbrough's encounter with Portsmouth. West Brom's James Morrison expressed his happiness with the result, stating, 'I'm really happy. Three games in a week, after an international break, we kept pushing to the end, we had some tired legs out there but we just needed a ball to fall to us.' Millwall's Alex Neil noted, 'A point is good, you always want to pick up points. We had the best chance through Josh Coburn, we had enough chances to win the game.'
