Hull FC Announces John Cartwright's Departure at Season's End

John Cartwright, head coach of Hull FC, will be leaving the club upon completion of the 2026 Super League season. During his tenure, he has overseen 39 games, securing 19 victories. Initially contracted until the end of the 2027 season, the club has opted to release him from his contract a year early. According to Hull's CEO, Richie Myler, Cartwright played a pivotal role in restoring stability and competitiveness to the team. Despite his departure, Cartwright will continue to lead the squad for the remainder of the season, with the club's full support. Following the announcement, players reportedly boycotted a scheduled training session, seeking communication from club officials regarding the decision. The club is currently in the process of securing a new head coach for the 2027 season and will provide updates accordingly. It is rumored that former Catalans Dragons head coach Steve McNamara, who previously played for Hull FC, has been approached to take on the role.
