Rachael Blackmore to Receive Grand National Legend Honor

Rachael Blackmore, a trailblazing jockey who made history by becoming the first woman to win the Randox Grand National, is set to be inducted as a Grand National Legend in 2026. This prestigious recognition comes after her remarkable victory at Aintree in 2021, where she rode Minella Times to victory. The 36-year-old retired jockey will be formally honored at a ceremony on the opening day of the Grand National Festival this Thursday. Blackmore will join an esteemed group of racing legends, including Ginger McCain, Jenny Pitman, and JP McManus, as well as iconic horses like Red Rum, Tiger Roll, and Aldaniti. The ceremony will take place near the newly renamed Blackmore's Bar, which Rachael will officially open on Thursday. Reflecting on her achievement, Blackmore expressed her gratitude, stating that winning the Randox Grand National was an unforgettable moment in her life. She also expressed excitement about opening Blackmore's Bar, a unique addition to the racecourse. Blackmore announced her retirement from racing in May 2025, with an impressive 575 career wins, including 18 successes at the Cheltenham Festival.
