David Warner Faces Drink Driving Charges in Sydney

According to reports, David Warner, a renowned Australian cricketer, has been accused of drink driving in Sydney. The New South Wales police confirmed that a 39-year-old man was stopped on Sunday evening in Maroubra, Sydney, during a random breath test. The initial breath test yielded a positive result, which was later confirmed by a second test at the police station. The police statement revealed that the incident occurred at approximately 5:30 pm on April 5, when officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were conducting stationary random breath testing on Malabar Road, Maroubra. A van allegedly stopped short of the testing site and parked, prompting officers to approach the vehicle and administer a roadside test, which returned a positive result. The driver, a 39-year-old man, was arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station, where a second test allegedly showed a reading of 0.104. Warner is scheduled to appear in court on May 7 to face charges of a 'middle-range' prescribed concentration of alcohol (PCA) offense. This development comes as Warner is set to captain the Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League, with the final scheduled for May 3 in Lahore. Having retired from international cricket in 2024, Warner continues to play in the franchise circuit. It remains uncertain whether he will participate in the upcoming game against Peshawar Zalmi on Thursday.
